Chandigarh, May 17 -- A day after shocking revelations of a smuggling racket being operated from within Sangrur jail in connivance with a senior jail official, the Punjab Government on Friday announced the installation of state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cameras across the state's prisons. These ultra-modern surveillance systems will enable 24x7 monitoring, aiming to stamp out illegal activities such as drug use and mobile phone operations inside jails.
