Lucknow, May 30 -- After the success of Operation Sindoor, the Uttar Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is set to introduce a culturally significant gesture in its mass wedding scheme - distributing sindoordani (vermilion boxes) to newlywed women in State-sponsored marriage ceremonies.
As part of a broader revamp of the Chief Minister's Mass Marriage Scheme, the State has also doubled the financial assistance for each couple from Rs 51,000 to Rs1 lakh. The decision was announced during a recent review meeting chaired by the CM.
