New Delhi, March 19 -- Delhi is likely to have peak power demand for the first time of nearly 9,000 Mega Watt (MW) this summer and the power discoms are taking steps to ensure smooth electricity supply. The national capital peak power demand last year was 8,656 MW.
Peak power demand in BRPL' area of South and West Delhi, which had clocked 3,809 MW during the summers of 2024, is expected to reach around 4,050 MW during the summers of 2025. On the other hand, in BYPL' area of East and Central Delhi, the peak power demand, which had reached 1,882 MW during the summers of 2024, is expected to touch around 1,900 MW this year, accordingto BSES.
