CUTTACK, Feb. 11 -- The Vigilance police on Friday seized unaccounted cash of Rs 6.79 lakh from the possession of Prasanta Kumar Mohapatra, OMVD Traffic Inspector of the office of the RTO, Jagatsinghpur.
The anti-graft agency officials intercepted Mohapatra at Tarini Chhak, Biribati near Cuttack while he was proceeding to Bhubaneswar by a Hyundai Exter car and recovered Rs 4,34,720 (suspected ill-gotten cash), which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at the residential house of Mohapatra at GL-78, VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar and rented house at Tarpur, Raghunathpur in Jagatsinghpur from the angle of disproportionate assets.
