Chandigarh/Ludhiana, June 20 -- Polling for the high-stakes Ludhiana West Assembly by-election concluded on Thursday amid allegations of bogus voting, attempts to influence voters through illegal distribution of ration, and heated exchanges between rival candidates. As per the Election Commission, only 51.33 percent voter turnout was recorded, reflecting lukewarm participation in one of Punjab's most politically sensitive urban constituencies.

The bypoll was necessitated after the untimely death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, who had defeated Congress heavyweight Bharat Bhushan Ashu in the 2022 Assembly polls.
