India, Oct. 15 -- Two heavily armed intruders were neutralised after Indian Army jawans foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday.

A joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police in the Machhal sector of Kupwara late Monday evening based on specific intelligence input about the possible infiltration bid from across the line of control.

As the troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC in Kupwara late Monday night, they challenged the intruders. A brief exchange of fire took place between the two sides. Throughout the night, the troops maintained a tight cordon in the forward areas to prevent trapped intruders from breaching the cordon.
