New Delhi, July 4 -- The flood situation across the country showed a marginal improvement on Thursday, with 10 river stations reporting water levels above the warning mark, down from 12 such sites a day earlier, according to the Central Water Commission's (CWC) daily flood-forecast bulletin.

No locations were in the "severe" or "extreme" flood category. However, several rivers in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu continued to remain under close observation, with levels breaching warning thresholds and showing rising or steady trends.

On Wednesday, 12 sites were flagged for above-normal flood situations.
