Manila, April 30 -- Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri on Tuesday renewed his call for a legislated PHP100 daily minimum wage increase, saying it is time to translate the praise for Filipino workers into concrete economic relief.
In a message issued a day before Labor Day (May 1), Zubiri hailed Filipino workers as the backbone of the nation's economy and vowed to continue championing wage hike legislation amid rising prices of goods and services.
"Ang dagdag sahod ay hindi regalo. Isa itong karapatan na dapat igalang at ipaglaban (A pay increase is not a gift. It is a right that must be respected and fought for)," he said, adding that workers deserve dignity, not just recognition.
