Manila, April 18 -- The Office of the City Agriculturist has allocated PHP2.75 million for the implementation of an urban gardening project here.

Carmencita Sanchez, city agriculturist, told the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday the fund will be used to purchase the needed seeds and organic fertilizer, and conduct the training of the project's target beneficiaries.

Sanchez said the project aims to strengthen backyard and container gardening and will be initially implemented in 30 of this city's 98 barangays.

She said 100 families in each of the 30 barangays will be identified as beneficiaries of the project.
