MANILA, March 29 -- With the onset of the dry season and the rising temperatures being experienced in the country, a medical professional advised the public on how to avoid heat exhaustion which if left untreated can lead to heat stroke, a life-threatening condition.

Dr. Benito Atienza of the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations on Wednesday said the usual sign of heat exhaustion is dehydration.

"When a person is dehydrated, there is an electrolyte imbalance so he or she needs to drink water or a rehydrating solution," he said in a public briefing, adding that a person needs to drink about two liters of water per day.
