Manila, Nov. 18 -- The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has reported an average 20.21 percent decrease in crimes against persons and property in the region's six provinces and two highly-urbanized cities from January to October this year.

Figures released by the PRO-6 on Sunday showed that 3,237 index crimes were recorded in the first 10 months of 2019 -- lower by 820 incidents from 4,057 reported during the same period in 2018.

With the lower crime volume, the PRO-6, headed by Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, said in a statement that Western Visayas remains to be one of the safest regions in the country.
