Manila, May 2 -- The president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) called on his fellow officials to treat all political aspirants fairly and remain apolitical to avoid jeopardizing their constituents after the May 12 elections.

"We should remain non-partisan. We do not know who will win. And what if the underdog wins, then that could cause animosity," Councilor Rocky Aliping, Baguio City ABC federation president, said in an interview Friday.

Aliping said it is also in line with the advisory of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

He issued the appeal to his colleagues after some refused to distribute Commission on Elections' (Comelec) Voters Information Sheets (VIS).
