Manila, April 2 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional office here reminded village and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) or youth council officials not to use public funds in campaigning for national and local candidates.
Comelec Eastern Visayas legal officer Ma. Krishna Athena Elardo said while village and SK officials are allowed to endorse candidates, they are strictly prohibited from using government funds, manpower, and other state resources for political purposes.
"Barangay and SK officials can campaign and endorse candidates, but they must do so using their personal resources. Government resources should never be used for political advantage," Elardo told the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday.
