Manila, Nov. 17 -- Department of Justice (DOJ) Acting Secretary Fredderick Vida officially took his oath before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, marking his full assumption of the DOJ's top post.
Vida, initially designated as officer-in-charge, now formally succeeds former Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla, who was appointed Ombudsman in October.
He previously served as a three-term mayor of Mendez, Cavite, from 2013 to 2022.
Vida's appointment comes as the DOJ continues coordinating with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and other investigative bodies tasked with examining alleged anomalies in public works spending, including flood control projects.
