Manila, Dec. 10 -- Cases of violence against women in the Bicol region decreased by 17 percent compared to 2024, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said Wednesday.

In a media forum, Arlene Alangco, CHR-Bicol regional director, said the number of recorded rape cases fell from 18 in 2024 to 15 this year.

"These ongoing cases primarily involve incestuous rape perpetrated by fathers. We are actively investigating these incidents, and most of the suspects have now been arrested," she said in an interview.

Alangco added they are enhancing their campaigns through various channels, especially in schools, to educate students about their rights.
