Manila, Nov. 11 -- Severe Tropical Storm Uwan (international name Fung-wong) continued to weaken while tracking north-northeastward toward Taiwan, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

The center of Uwan was estimated at 340 km. west of Itbayat, Batanes (outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility or PAR), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) 5 p.m. bulletin.

It has maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 125 kph, moving north-northeast at 15 kph, with strong to storm-force winds extending up to 540 km. from the center.
