MANILA, Nov. 12 -- Severe Tropical Storm Uwan (international name Fung-wong) has maintained its strength as it continues to move slowly north-northeast over the seas south of Taiwan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau noted that the center of Uwan was estimated at 280 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes- outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
It has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 km/h.
It is moving north-northeast at 10 km/h, with strong to storm-force winds extending outward up to 350 km from the center.
