Manila, Nov. 10 -- Families affected by the strong winds and rains brought by Super Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-Wong) are now placed at about 231,000 equivalent to 837,000 persons, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Monday.

"The effects of the typhoon were reported in 2,700 barangays," OCD deputy administrator Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro said in an online press briefing.

Of the total number, 92,000 are straying in 6,000 evacuation centers located in Mimaropa, Regions 4A (Calabarzon), 5 (Bicol Region), 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), 8 (Eastern Visayas), 13 (Caraga) and Negros Island Region.
