Manila, Nov. 8 -- The United States government is providing USD1 million in "immediate life-saving assistance" to augment the Philippines' relief and recovery efforts in areas severely affected by Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi) and the recent earthquakes that struck the country, the US Department of State announced Saturday.
Typhoon Tino made landfall on Tuesday, dumping heavy rains that triggered massive flooding across the Visayas and Mindanao, leaving164 dead, 176 injured, and 79 still missing.
