Manila, Oct. 10 -- The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) lifted on Friday afternoon the tsunami warning it issued due to the magnitude 7.4 Davao Oriental earthquake.
Earlier, the agency issued the warning and recommended immediate evacuation of residents in all the coastal communities in Davao Oriental, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Eastern Samar.
The Tandag Surigao del Sur sea level monitoring station recorded a tsunami wave height of around 30 cm. at 10:20 a.m.
"With this, any effects due to the tsunami warning have largely passed," Phivolcs said, cancelling the tsunami warning at 1:43 p.m. Friday.
