MANILA, Aug. 16 -- The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will bring rains in most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the trough of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, Central Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.

Flash floods and landslides may occur during moderate to heavy rains, PAGASA warned.
