COTABATO CITY, Oct. 9 -- Local and military officials in Maguindanao del Sur settled a long-standing 'rido' (family feud) on Wednesday involving an elected local official and a Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) official, following several negotiations facilitated by the Army.
Maguindanao Gov. Datu Ali Midtimbang and Brig. Gen. Edgar Catu, commander of the Army's 601st Infantry Brigade, has successfully convinced Mayor Rasol Sangki of Ampatuan town in Maguindanao del Sur and Commander Hamsa Kindo, a battalion commander at the MILF 11th Brigade, 118th Base Command, to end the feud.
"Both are residents of Ampatuan town," Catu said in a statement on Thursday.
