MANILA, Aug. 29 -- Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III has gone on a month-long leave and been placed under the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU), PNP Public Information Office head Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuano said on Friday.

In a press briefing after the PNP's first command conference under acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. at Camp Crame, Tuano said Torre went on leave on Aug. 28 until Sept. 29 using his special and service leave, as approved by the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM).

Torre was also placed on "floating status" at the PHAU. While at the PHAU, Torre, just like everyone else there, will be required to report for work everyday.
