Manila, Nov. 6 -- The reported death toll due to Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi) has climbed to 66, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.
In a message to reporters, the agency said 49 of the reported fatalities were from Cebu, most of them due to fallen debris, landslides and flooding.
One fatality was recorded each in Bohol, Capiz, and Leyte, all attributed to toppled trees, the NDRRMC said. Another death, also in Leyte, was reportedly caused by flooding.
Seven people were also reported killed in the Negros Island Region, two of them from fallen debris.
"The cause [of death] of five others are still being determined," the NDRRMC said.
