MANILA, Nov. 27 -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday filed tax evasion charges before the Department of Justice against two contractors involved in alleged ghost flood control projects in Bulacan.
Named respondents were IM Construction Corp., SYMS Construction Trading, and their responsible officers.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza said the two firms were assessed with PHP13.8 million in total tax deficiencies arising from fictitious expenses, underreported income, and false value-added tax (VAT) declarations.
The respondents were charged with violation of Section 254 (Tax Evasion), and Section 255 (Willful Failure to Supply Correct and Accurate Information) of the National Internal Revenue Code.
