Manila, June 11 -- The Iloilo City Government has formed a task force to lead efforts in controlling and addressing the spread of the mpox (monkeypox) viral infection.

Mayor Jerry Trenas formalized the creation of the task force through Executive Order 047, series of 2025, which was signed on Tuesday and released on Wednesday.

The order emphasizes the need for proactive public health measures to mitigate mpox transmission and protect the community.

"In consideration of the public health risks associated with the mpox virus, it is incumbent upon the local government unit to implement and enforce proactive measures," Trenas said in his order.
