Manila, March 4 -- The Social Security System (SSS) Urdaneta City branch is urging local government units (LGUs) and other entities to take part in the contribution subsidy provider program of the agency for indigent farmers.
Under the program, the subsidy provider will pay PHP4,500 per year for one farmer, which is equivalent to six-month contribution. Contributions for the other six months will be paid by the farmer once he has harvested his crop.
"This PHP4,500 will go a long way to help the farmers and their families," SSS Urdaneta City chief Christopher Servas said in an interview Tuesday.
Under the program, farmers will be covered as self-employed.
