Manila, Oct. 29 -- Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday said the chamber would prudently act and uphold due process after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended the filing of cases against Senators Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada and Joel Villanueva before the Office of the Ombudsman over alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
The ICI's referral - its second since starting its investigation on Sept. 19 - also named former Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, former Representatives Zaldy Co and Mitch Cajayon-Uy, and Commission on Audit Commissioner Mario Lipana among those recommended for prosecution.
