Manila, July 19 -- A bill seeking the establishment of a common national policy on education, which will train Filipino students to be job-ready and globally competitive, has been filed at the Senate.

According to a statement on Friday, Senator Pia Cayetano filed Senate Bill No. 62 with the aim of institutionalizing an education roadmap that incorporates the required skills and competencies that industries constantly look for in new graduates.

Cayetano said the bill seeks to address the current "overlapping and confusing" education policies to guarantee gainful employment for Filipino students.
