Manila, May 29 -- The western section consisting of two lanes in the southbound direction of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) was closed to traffic starting May 28, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Friday.

In an advisory, the DPWH said the portion will be closed until June 9 to give way to the bored piling works for the Sucat-Alabang Extension.

With the shift of the National Capital Region and Region 4-A (Calabarzon) from modified enhanced community quarantine MECQ) to general community quarantine next month, the DPWH said the concessionaire was requested to mobilize ahead of their previously scheduled closure on June 1 to take advantage of the limited public transportation and movement of motorists.
