Manila, June 12 -- As the country observes its 127th Independence Day with the theme, "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III called on all police officers to continue serving the Filipino people well.

In a statement on Thursday, Torre said as protectors of peace and defenders of democracy, the PNP stands in solidarity with the Filipino people in upholding the hard-earned freedom "that defines our identity as a sovereign nation."
