BALER, Nov. 20 -- A series of weak earthquakes, including a magnitude 4.1 tremor, shook areas off the coast of Aurora province early Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The seismic activity occurred from 1:43 a.m. to 3:15 a.m. east and southeast of Baler and Dinalungan. Phivolcs classified most tremors as shallow and likely related to aftershock activity.
The initial magnitude 4.1 quake struck at 1:43 a.m. at a depth of 13 kilometers. Five weaker aftershocks, ranging from magnitude 1.4 to 2.9, followed.
No damage or injuries were reported, according to the provincial disaster office, as it advised residents to remain calm but vigilant for possible additional aftershocks.
