Manila, July 25 -- Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Friday called on retailers and pharmacies to show compassion and solidarity by strictly complying with the Department of Health's (DOH) 60-day price freeze on essential medicines in calamity-hit areas.
"Ang pananamantala sa gitna ng krisis ay hindi makatao. Ito ang panahon para ipakita ang malasakit at pagkakaisa sa kapwa nating Pilipino (Taking advantage of others during a crisis is inhumane. This is the time to show compassion and solidarity with our fellow Filipinos)," Gatchalian said in a statement.
The senator said the DOH's directive is a necessary step to protect vulnerable communities and ensure continued access to life-saving medicines following disasters.
