Manila, June 26 -- Expectations for easing of tensions in the Middle East has resulted to the drop in global oil prices, thus Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Thursday urged oil companies to reflect this change in their prices.
"To help ease the cost-of-living burden on our people, I urge oil companies to mirror the decline in global crude prices at the pump," Gatchalian said in a statement.
The senator said the Department of Energy (DOE) must also intensify its market surveillance to ensure fair pricing and prevent undue profit-taking during periods of price volatility.
