Philippines, Feb. 26 -- The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday said it has received inputs from persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) on the ongoing review of the rules of criminal procedure.
In a news release, the high court said the PDLs' inputs were collected through a series of stakeholder consultations held from November to December 2024 in various detention facilities.
The SC is reviewing the Rules of Criminal Procedure (CRIMPRO Rules) as part of the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovation 2022-2027 (SPJI).
The proposed revisions aim to address the twin problems of docket congestion and delays in criminal proceedings.
