Manila, June 23 -- Tingog Party-list Representative Jude Acidre defended the significance of the San Juanico Bridge on Monday, responding to recent criticisms that the structure is merely a tourist attraction.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Acidre said that for residents of Leyte and Samar, the bridge is not just infrastructure but part of daily life.
"Because for those of us who live here, for those of us who have crossed that bridge countless times, on buses, motorcycles, or even by foot -it means more. It's a part of our daily lives. It holds memories of morning commutes and family road trips, of sunsets and rainy days. It's not just infrastructure. It's identity. It's history. It's home," Acidre said.
