Manila, July 31 -- The reported death toll from the combined effects of heavy southwest monsoon (habagat) rains and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong has gone up to 37 as of Thursday, according to official government tally.
In its latest update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said only two deaths have so far been confirmed - one in Northern Mindanao and another in the Caraga Region.
Still undergoing validation are 35 reported fatalities: nine in the National Capital Region, eight in Calabarzon, six in Western Visayas, three in Negros Island Region, three in the Cordillera Administrative Region, two in Central Luzon, two in Northern Mindanao, and one each in Mimaropa and Davao Region.
