Manila, March 3 -- The Department of Education (DepEd) in Baguio has proposed to remove all flower vases in classrooms to eliminate breeding places of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
Aileen Refuerzo, city chief information officer, said on Monday the proposal was made by Dr. Roger Sinot who represented DepEd during the Baguio City Anti-Vector Borne Disease Committee meeting on Feb. 25, which was convened by the City Health Services Office (CHSO) to address the incidence of dengue in the city.
From Jan. 1 to Feb. 22, 2025, the CHSO Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) recorded 171 dengue cases, lower than the 178 cases on the same period last year.
