Manila, Jan. 30 -- The Quezon City government announced on Thursday the guidelines for the implementation of its calorie labeling ordinance to be implemented by the end of the year.

In a media briefing on Thursday, Mayor Joy Belmonte said the ordinance aims to improve the health of its residents by providing them with the right nutritional information about the food they eat.

"This ordinance is more than just a regulation-it's an opportunity to empower our citizens to make informed decisions about their food. By displaying calorie labels on restaurant menus, QCitizens can consciously choose healthier meals, reducing their risk of lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease," Belmonte said.
