Manila, April 3 -- The public must take earthquake drills seriously, as these exercises could be lifesaving during actual calamities, Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Cornelio Salinas said Thursday.
In an interview, Salinas said the Office of the Civil Defense is consistent in the conduct of the national simultaneous earthquake drill, which is one way to capacitate people to react in case of emergency.
"Our people should really internalize these drills so that's one way for them to save themselves during the calamity," he said.
