Manila, March 4 -- Both local shares and peso closed Tuesday's trading stronger.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended the day gaining by 0.45 percent to 6,064.11, while All Shares also went up by 0.24 percent to 3,628.96 points.

"The local bourse extended gains as investors seized bargain-hunting opportunities ahead of the consumer price index release," Regina Capital Development Corp. head of sales Luis Limlingan said.

Winners for the day were led by Mining and Oil whose counter increased by 3.27 percent to 8,129.20 points.

This was followed by Financials, whose shares improved by 1.27 percent to 2,310.48 points; Services, up by 0.73 percent to 1,942.52; and Industrial, up by 0.49 percent to 8,631.33.
