Manila, March 11 -- With its abundant natural resource, the prospects of the bamboo industry remain high and are expected to provide livelihood and income to many Abrenos.
This was gleaned during the Kawayan Festival over the weekend, which became an avenue for cooperation between the people and local government unit (LGU) officials.
"The bamboo is not just a festival for us. It is also a source of livelihood and our identity. That is why I am talking with the provincial environment officer for the revival of the bamboo forests," acting Governor Russel Bragas said in an interview on Tuesday.
Stakeholders of Abra's bamboo industry produce handcrafted items, such as baskets, chairs, hats, bags, and other household items.
