Manila, April 1 -- The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) has created a group tasked with intelligence gathering and going after groups promoting vice-focused crimes, particularly drugs.

PRO6 director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky led the pre-deployment briefing and send-off program for the newly-created Boracay Anti-Vice Unit at the Aklan Provincial Police Office, Camp Pastor Martelino in Kalibo, Aklan on Monday.

The 22-member specialized intelligence monitoring team will be tasked to gather sufficient evidence against criminal groups. They will augment the existing strength of the Malay Municipal Police Station.
