Manila, Sept. 8 -- The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Monday formally terminated its contract with MAC Builders, Inc. for the construction of the Zamboanga Port Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) due to prolonged delays.
In a statement, PPA Assistant General Manager for Engineering (AGME) James Gantalao said the contractor was repeatedly issued with formal notices and warnings before the contract was terminated due to delays, "design misalignment with current needs," and their failure despite repeated time extensions granted.
"Unfortunately, we had to terminate the contract because what we envisioned back in 2021, when the project was started, no longer met current operational requirements," Gantalao said.
