Manila, May 22 -- The average residential electricity rates of all three distribution utilities in Negros Occidental decreased in May mainly due to lower prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) on Thursday reported a downward adjustment of PHP1.7807 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this month, settling at PHP13.28 per kWh from PHP15.07 per kWh in April.

In a statement, its management said it is due to the decrease in the WESM price and the fluctuation of foreign exchange rates and fuel cost of power suppliers.
