Manila, Feb. 18 -- The Department of Tourism regional office is thrilled with the eventual completion of the PHP127-million Higatangan Submarine Cable Project that will supply uninterrupted power to the picturesque island.
The four-kilometer submarine cable project will provide 24-hour uninterrupted electricity to more than 500 households from two villages of Higatangan, which currently have diesel-powered electricity from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The project is scheduled to start early this year and is expected to be finished within five to six months.
It will benefit not only residential customers but also tourism facilities, according to Department of Tourism (DOT) Eastern Visayas regional director Karina Rosa Tiopes on Tuesday.
