Manila, April 2 -- The Vatican Press Office announced Wednesday that a recent X-ray of Pope Francis showed "slight improvements in the pulmonary infectious picture."
The 88-year-old pontiff, who was discharged from Rome's Gemelli hospital on March 23 after a 38-day stay, has begun what is expected to be a two-month recovery period from bilateral pneumonia.
According to the Vatican, Francis remains in good spirits, with a stable overall condition and normal blood test results.
His motor skills, breathing, and vocal use continue to improve, though high-flow oxygenation is still utilized primarily at night and as needed.
