Manila, Dec. 26 -- Police personnel will be deployed to assist in traffic management and other security-related matters amid the ongoing rehabilitation works on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said.

In a statement, PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the PNP wanted to assist at least in personnel augmentation in easing traffic flow.

While local government units and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority are expected to deploy their own personnel, Nartatez said their territorial units and the Highway Patrol Group could serve as augmentation at strategic points along EDSA and alternative routes.
