Manila, Jan. 2 -- The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) has confiscated over PHP300,000 worth of assorted firecrackers being sold illegally, as well as an abandoned "boga" (homemade cannon) in two municipalities.

Maj. Mona Guia Menez, officer-in-charge of the provincial Police Community Affairs and Development Unit, said in an interview on Friday that police personnel from the Hamtic confiscated assorted firecrackers being sold illegally by retailers without a special business permit.

"There were also four 'boga' cannons that were recovered by the police in San Jose de Buenavista on Dec. 28," she said.
