Manila, Jan. 30 -- The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) will intensify patrols and the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations along the Marilaque (Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon) Highway.

PNP-HPG personnel made a surprise inspection at the highway in Tanay, Rizal Wednesday afternoon as part of measures to prevent fatal accidents in the area, which has become a popular hangout of motorcycle riders.

In a statement Thursday, HPG officer in charge Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said the inspection aimed at evaluating the deployment of HPG personnel, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, the Tanay Municipal Police Office and the Traffic Management Office of Tanay.
